Erin, DOB 03/02/87, Complete BCLP
Erin is a college student and one of six children. In 2001, she had both bone graft and orthognathic (jaw) surgery. In 2002 she underwent internal maxillary micro osteogenesis (bone distraction). She is studying to be a pharmacy tech and will possibly go on to be a pharmacist...she hasn't decided yet! See Erin with Cher in our family album!

Emma (a couple weeks old in photo on the left) used a NAM (orthodontic plate) that shaped her nose and brought her 14mm gap together. Emma is four years old in the photo on the right. Her lip repair was done in January 2003, and her palate repair was October 2003. Much thanks to Dr. Clarke and all of 8C at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

Ethan was born in Las Vegas, Nevada to proud parents Rob and Tricia. He has two adoring sisters--Emily was born in 1996 and Abby in 2000. We did not know about Ethan's cleft before he was born, so we have learned a lot in a short time. As far as we know there are no clefts in either of our families. Ethan's lip was repaired on November 8, 2002. Palate repair was April 25th, 2003; lip revision was 12/15/03.

In my childhood, I had 12 operations, the latest being in 2003. I am hoping to be a paramedic to help the sick and injured. My experiences with St. John Ambulance have made me realize that I love the feeling of going to bed having made a positive impact on somebody's life. I like to think of myself as a happy person, and I have been told that I'm a beautiful person. I wouldn't change myself for the world!

Eliza's cleft lip was caught on a routine ultrasound. The doctors at our fourth ultrasound thought it was a midline cleft lip and palate. Eliza has two big brothers who adore her. We are so happy to have our beautiful little girl! Eliza's first surgery is scheduled for February 23, 2004.

Ella Yvonne's first surgery was on 2/7/06 to repair her lip and nose, and her second surgery was 08/29/06 to repair her hard and soft palate. Her cleft was undected in two ultrasounds. She is nothing short of a blessing with a beautiful face and soul to match. She has a CarePage under EllaYvonne and we also did a story of the month for CPF.

Erin was born with a UCLP, as well as lower lips pits consistent with Van der Woude's syndrome. She has had her first lip/nose surgery and is scheduled for her palate repair in July. Erin has been under the care of Drs. Cutting and Grayson at NYU Medical Center and they have been amazing. She has worn the NAM for 3 months and although uncomfortable, it worked wonders for her gum and nose.

We didn't know about Ethan's cleft lip and palate until the day he was born. He had his lip repaired on 10/17/03 and his palate repaired on 4/23/04 at Arkansas Children's Hospital. Emily is such a little trooper, with a great little personality, always making people smile! She had her lip repaired on 06/21/04 and had tubes placed at 7 months due to constant ear infections. We are looking at about 3 more surgeries at this point. We are currently dealing with feeding and other medical issues, but through it all, she has CHANGED our lives & made life so much more worth while!

Emma was born with a left unilateral cleft lip/gumline and lip pits on her lower lip. After her birth, we found that we all have Van Der Woude Syndrome. Her big sister, brother and myself all have characteristics of the genetic disease. She had her lip/nose repair at three months and she was a brave little girl. Emma is the light of our lives. She will steal your heart the minute she smiles that big beautiful smile.

We found out about Eden's cleft in ultrasound, and had her surgery scheduled just a few days after birth. The repair went great and she has a minor scar above her smile. She would love to do a scar revision, but we are told she needs to wait until she is older. She is a beautiful 8 year old now!
